Hello (Almost) Fall
It’s here! Fall, that is. The weather is changing here in North Georgia and we are loving it.
Ever since it hit September 1st, the only thing that has been on my mind is the changing of the leaves, cooler weather, fall drinks from Starbucks (can I get an amen?!), and of course the transitioning of fall decor into my home.
October is this magical month where you are enjoying the last days of summer, yet you are getting to experience the changing into fall right in front of your eyes. Here in Georgia the starts out with it being cool in the morning and by 3 o’clock you want to go jump in the pool after work! But eventually, you can wear a sweatshirt all day and not even break a sweat, and those are the days that I’m dreaming of right now. You can start to justify buying a pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks and putting pumpkins and candles all over your house. It is truly so much fun!!
What are you most looking forward to this fall?
For me, what I’m most looking forward to is all of the fun festivities that fall brings! There’s the apple orchards, football, corn mazes, hay rides, haunted houses, and of course Halloween. Just typing all of that out makes me so excited already!! All of this is so fun, but the question is, how do we practically bring this fall season inside?
Now, growing up we didn’t have the most extensive home decor when it came to fall, we saved all of our decorating for Christmas! We of course had the carved pumpkins on our front porch, small pumpkins here and there in the house, and the fall candle lit on the dining room table, but that was about the extent of it.
Now that I’m in college and have a place of my own, I’m embracing the fact that I LOVE seasonal decorations and transitional pieces, especially when it comes to fall! I can start decorating as early as I would like, and for me, fall refreshing has already begun!
I want to give you guys some practical tips on how to bring this fall, we are begging to come sooner rather than later, inside your home!
Throw pillow change
Something as simple as switching out the pillows in your living room can really change the tone that your house brings. So, this fall maybe bring some earth tones in with your pillows; browns, deep reds, variations of burnt orange.
Throw blanket change
I love a good throw blanket, it can give your couch some dimension and movement and is such an effortless way to give your space that extra touch. There is the chunky, knit throw blanket if you want more of a solid, neutral look. I also love the look of a gingham style throw, I just think that is classic fall!
Fall florals
Florals can make a space feel so special and inviting. Simple faux floral arrangements in a vase, or even a fall wreath can bring that feeling of being outside in the beautiful fall leaves, inside. A great tip for adding florals is place a wreath in the center of your table and add your favorite vase to the inside!
Faux pumpkins
Let’s be honest, you can never have too many pumpkins in your house! I always tend to lean towards white, cream, or brownish ones as decoration. We have so many different options in-store that I know would look so lovely in any home! Mix the textures of the pumpkins, add a velvet and one of our hand carved wood pumpkins together. They are perfect to put on your mantle, your coffee table, and maybe even your kitchen island as a centerpiece.
New table setting
It’s always fun to get creative and switch up your table setting, and there are so many fun options you can choose from when it comes to fall. You can switch up your table runner, some muted orange or red napkins, candle sticks, and a fall floral and maybe even some mini pumpkins in the center and you’ve got yourself a beautiful fall arrangement for your dining room table! Don’t let runners and table cloths be your only choices for a table covering. Adding a plaid throw instead brings warmth and a casual feeling. Think outside the box!
Seasonal candles
Last but certainly not least is candles. We love for our homes to be filled with all the amazing scents fall has to offer. Cinnamon, clove, simmered ciders and of course pumpkin fragrances are among our favorites at the shop. Choose a soy or beeswax candle for cleaner burning. Sensitive to smells? No problem. Add some of our unscented taper candles to your rooms. They being a touch of elegance and romance.
I hope these are helpful, practical tips that can guide your creative process of bringing fall into your home this year. Fall can’t come soon enough!!
God Bless,
Leah Alexander
